Predators score late against Canucks to avoid elimination

The Nashville Predators were the hunted on Tuesday night, but managed to survive.

The Predators defeated the Vancouver Canucks 2-1 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver to stay alive in Game 5 of the Western Conference first-round playoff series.

Game 6 is Friday as the series shifts to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Down 1-0, Nashville scored twice in the third period. Defenseman Roman Josi's power-play goal tied the game 1-1 at 7:15, jamming the puck barely over the goal line.

Alexandre Carrier got the winner with 7:14 left on a screened slap shot from just inside the blue line.

Defenseman Nikita Zadorov had given the Canucks a 1-0 lead 3:11 into the third period by capping off an uncharacteristic rush from inside his own zone with a shot from a bad angle.

Juuse Saros made 19 saves for the Predators and Arturs Silovs stopped 20 shots for Vancouver.
