'Maybe he can say it again…' Luka Doncic trolls Charles Barkley for embarrassingly wrong prediction after Mavs beat OKC
Alonzo Adams-USA TODAY Sports

After the Oklahoma City Thunder’s win in game 4, the fans were not the only ones who acquired confidence in the team. Hall of Famer Charles Barkley also gained faith as the star predicted the team would also win Game 5 at their home court. However, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks came out strong to tear Barkley’s predictions down.

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Thunder to take a 3-2 lead in the second-round series. Luka Doncic was the main man in the win, scoring a triple-double. When Doncic was asked about Charles Barkley‘s prediction, the star could not help but give a clever response. Doncic did not take the prediction to his heart and gave a wholesome reply.

Maybe next time he can say it again in the next game so maybe we'll win again. But that's it. I don't know what to say. Luka Doncic via media interview on NBA on TNT

Like many Doncic is also an ‘Inside the NBA‘ fan as he showed love to the four veteran hosts of the show. After his response to the prediction, the Mavericks guard politely told the reporter to send his greetings to the crew and guest Draymond Green.

The duo certainly does not have any beef as Barkley admitted his mistake after the game. Chuck praised Doncic’s ‘fantastic’ performance by stating that he was ‘clearly wrong’. Doncic took the Mavericks to a victory with a dominating 30-point triple-double as the Thunder fell short during most of the game.

Charles Barkley stated that the OKC Thunder ‘got lucky’ in Game 4 win

Barkley’s confidence in Thunder’s win in game 5 came from Game 4. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had an amazing game in the fourth matchup that led the Thunder to tie the series. The MVP candidate scored a game-high 34 points. Barkley praised the star for taking control of the game and also stated that the guard needed help from his teammates.

During Inside the NBA, Barkley credited the Game 4 win to SGA but also admitted that Doncic and Kyrie Irving‘s no-show performance benefited the Thunder. The dynamic duo had a poor shooting night and only combined for 27 points.

They got lucky tonight because Luka and Kyrie had a bad game. But they're (Thunder) not playing the same way they played earlier in the playoffs. Charles Barkley via Inside the NBA

Barkley was right as despite SGA’s consecutive incredible performance of 30 points, the Thunder lost Game 5 with Doncic’s incredible outing. None of the other players of the OKC squad were even able to score half as many points as SGA. The team has to step up and help their leading scorer to stay in the series.
