It appears the biggest win of Ryan Garcia's pro boxing career has been tainted.

Dan Rafael first reported that "KingRy" tested positive for Ostarine , a banned PED substance, in a VADA drug test for his showdown with Devin Haney. ESPN's Mike Coppinger later followed up, reporting that the news was confirmed through a letter from VADA. Coppinger notes that 19-norandrosterone was also screened positive in Ryan's A-sample, but that is unconfirmed.

Garcia has 10 days to have his B-sample tested, per ESPN.

It's disappointing news for Ryan Garcia, who already had some heat for missing weight, making his clash with Devin Haney a non-title bout. Garcia ended up defeating "The Dream" in their April 20, 2024 boxing match via majority decision, handing Haney the first loss of his pro boxing career. While "KingRy" received high praise for having the performance of a lifetime, he will now be looked at under a microscope unless his team can prove there was no wrongdoing as far as his drug test is concerned.

Garcia has responded on his Instagram account:

"Fake news like I’m Donald Trump. I don’t even know what “ostarine” isIon care pull up to Warwick. NO WEAPON AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER," Garcia wrote in the caption.

Garcia took fight fans on a roller coaster ride with his antics on social media. In the end, the former interim WBC lightweight champion had many fooled as he showed no signs of mental issues during his performance against Haney. During the post-fight press conference, Garcia said he wasn't the problem but his critics were.
